DVHTV setup & user guide

From first download to your TV Guide, Favorites and Multiview. Follow these steps using your own compatible, lawfully accessed media source.

These instructions cover the currently published direct/sideload app: 1.0.0-direct.4 (build 235). Internal development features are labeled separately.

Step 1

Before you start

You will need a compatible Fire OS, Android TV or Google TV device, an internet connection, an email address for your DVHTV account, and your own compatible lawful media source.

Device compatibility: The direct Android APK is not compatible with Amazon Vega OS. Not every stream format or device codec is supported; playback also depends on your provider and network.

If you already have DVHTV installed, do not uninstall it just to follow this tutorial. See the update section first.

Step 2

Install DVHTV on Fire TV, Android TV or Google TV

Fire TV using Downloader

  1. On a compatible Fire TV, install the third-party Downloader app from your device's app marketplace.
  2. Open Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps and permit Downloader to install apps. If Developer Options is hidden, open Settings → My Fire TV → About, highlight your device name and press the center/OK button seven times.
  3. Open Downloader and enter the official DVHTV code 5916646.
  4. Check that the download destination belongs to downloads.dvhtv.com, then download the installer and follow the Fire TV installation prompts.
  5. Launch DVHTV and continue to account linking.
Security: Use only the APK and Downloader code shown on our official download page. Do not install unofficial, modified or unknown DVHTV packages.

Android TV and Google TV

  1. Open Download DVHTV on a trusted device and download the official APK.
  2. Transfer the APK to your compatible TV using a trusted file-transfer or file-manager method available to you.
  3. Allow installation from your chosen source when Android prompts you, then install and open DVHTV.

Devices already using a Google Play version should use the Play update and billing process for that installation rather than assuming the direct APK and store builds are interchangeable.

Step 3

Create your DVHTV account and link the TV

  1. On your phone or computer, create your DVHTV account or sign in to an existing one.
  2. Verify your email using the message DVHTV sends you. If the message is missing, check spam/junk and use the resend option in My Account.
  3. On the TV, open Settings → Subscription & Devices and find its temporary pairing code. Menu wording may vary by app version.
  4. On the website, open My Account. In Link a DVHTV device, enter the temporary code exactly as displayed and submit it.
  5. Return to DVHTV and confirm the TV displays your linked account and access level. Generate a new code if the first one expired.
Trial: A new eligible account's 48-hour full Premium trial starts when its first device is linked. Unlinking a device does not restart the trial.
Step 4

Add your own compatible media provider

DVHTV doesn't create or supply provider accounts. Have the connection details from your own lawful media source ready on your TV; do not send them to DVHTV support or post them publicly.

Xtream-compatible provider

  1. Open DVHTV's Providers or Add Provider screen, then choose its Xtream-compatible option if offered.
  2. Enter the server address supplied by your provider, including its required https:// or http:// scheme and port, if one was provided.
  3. Enter your provider username and password on your device. These are separate from your DVHTV website login.
  4. Save or connect, then wait for categories and channels to load. Large catalogs can take longer.

M3U playlist

  1. Choose the M3U playlist option.
  2. Enter the M3U address supplied by your lawful source and save or connect.
  3. If your source supplied a separate XMLTV/EPG address, enter it in the Guide/EPG configuration when available.

If your provider offers neither a compatible playlist nor supported connection details, DVHTV cannot generate them. Provider menus and available import formats can differ by platform and app version.

Step 5

Browse categories and watch Live TV

  1. Open Live TV once your provider's catalog finishes loading.
  2. Start in All Channels or choose a provider category using the remote's arrow keys.
  3. Highlight a channel. Depending on the view, press OK to preview or select it; press OK again where the Guide offers a preview-to-full-screen action.
  4. Use Back to leave menus or return from the full-screen player. The app's available Player Options are accessible with a long press of OK on supported TV remote views.
  5. Use Recent Channels or the last-channel shortcut where offered to switch back to a previously watched channel.

On long category lists, a held arrow key navigates through categories. Navigation speed and wrap behavior are being further refined in development; those unreleased refinements are not guaranteed in the current public build.

Step 6

Set up and use the TV Guide (EPG)

  1. Open TV Guide after loading your provider.
  2. Browse channel categories on the left and programs across the time grid. DVHTV's Guide is designed around current local time and remote-control navigation.
  3. Highlight a program to view the details your provider's EPG makes available. Channel selection and preview behavior may vary by view.
  4. If times or show titles are missing, check whether your provider supplies usable program data. Use Refresh EPG where available, and allow the Guide time to download and update.
  5. If a channel is unmatched, use Assign EPG in the supported channel options to map the correct guide entry.
Guide data comes from your source: DVHTV cannot guarantee that a provider includes listings or that every channel's program data is accurate. A successful channel import does not necessarily mean a usable EPG was supplied.
Step 7

Favorites, hidden channels and category organization

With Premium access, use your TV's channel options (including long-press OK where supported) to add or remove Favorites, change visibility, reorder channels, or organize groups. Some actions are available from the Guide and others from the player.

  1. Highlight the channel you want to organize and open its channel options or context menu.
  2. Use Favorite or Manage Favorites to build your Favorites category.
  3. Use the available visibility, blocking, reorder and group controls to customize the channel list. Check your TV's on-screen instructions for the action's exact location.
  4. Use My List for supported program/event watchlist actions; it is separate from channel Favorites.

After making major changes, leave and reopen the relevant screen to verify your saved organization. Do not clear app data or uninstall an existing installation when troubleshooting saved providers.

Step 8

Multiview and recording

Multiview

Premium includes supported two- and four-screen Multiview. Open the Multiview option in a supported TV view and select your panes. Device decoding capabilities, stream formats and your provider's simultaneous-connection limit affect how many streams can actually play at once.

If a pane reports Stream ended, use its Retry action or reduce the layout to two screens when offered. Buying DVHTV Premium does not increase a media provider's permitted stream connections.

Recording and transport controls

Recording is a Premium feature where the source, device storage and applicable stream rules support it. Storage needs and available transport controls depend on the app release and media source. Do not assume every live stream can be paused or rewound; see the development-status section below for Local Time-Shift.

Step 9

Manage your subscription and devices

Open My Account on the website to see your plan, connected devices and billing options for the direct/sideload version.

48-hour full trialEligible new accounts; starts with first link
Premium$4.99/month or $39.99/year · up to five devices
Optional +5 Devices$3.99/month · up to ten total devices on the same account

Deactivate makes a device inactive without permanently deleting its entry. Remove permanently revokes it; that device will need to pair again. A device slot is shared across supported DVHTV platforms, and adding the optional device pack does not create a second account.

Direct/sideload subscriptions are managed through the DVHTV website and processed by Stripe. Store-installed versions may have a different subscription-management path through their app marketplace.

Step 10

Update DVHTV without losing your setup

  1. Check the published version, download link and checksum on our official download page.
  2. Download the newer official production package for the same distribution channel. Install it as an update over your existing app without uninstalling or clearing data.
  3. Reopen DVHTV and check that your account remains linked and your provider and Favorites are still present.
  4. If any saved provider disappears, stop and contact support@dvhtv.com with your app version and device model. Do not email provider usernames, passwords or private playlist URLs.
Important: Experimental DVHTV DEV builds and official production builds are distinct. Never uninstall your production app or install a development package to obtain a public update.
Step 11

Troubleshooting

My provider won't load

Check the server address format, internet connection and provider credentials on your device. Very large catalogs can take longer. Confirm the provider can be accessed using your authorized account; DVHTV does not issue provider logins.

The Guide is empty or wrong

Check your source's EPG/XMLTV details, refresh the Guide where available and try Assign EPG for mismatched channels. Live-channel availability and program listings are separate.

Multiview panes end

Retry the affected pane or use two screens instead of four. Some media providers allow only a limited number of simultaneous streams.

Pairing code expired

Generate a fresh code on the device and enter it in My Account. Confirm your DVHTV email is verified and that you have an available device slot.

My saved provider disappeared

Do not uninstall or clear app data. Check that you're opening the same production app rather than a separate development install, and contact support with the device/app version.

Something freezes or keeps playing

Exit playback, reopen DVHTV and note the exact steps and channel format. Persistent Home-button audio or category-scrolling issues should be reported with your app build; improvements are under testing.

Need more help? Contact support@dvhtv.com with your device model, DVHTV version and the steps to reproduce the issue. Never email passwords, provider access tokens or private playlist addresses.

Development updates

What we're improving next

We are testing refinements to saved-provider reliability, smoother category scrolling and remote-key hold behavior, clearer player overlays, and Local Time-Shift controls for compatible streams. These are internal development efforts, not features promised for the current public download. Local Time-Shift needs a compatible source and device storage; we will publish instructions and release notes only when it is approved for production.

A separate Windows version is also in development. The official download on this website is currently the supported Android-based TV sideload package, not a Windows installer.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Does DVHTV include any channels or a TV subscription?

No. DVHTV is only a media player. You must supply your own compatible lawful media source.

Does Premium include five additional provider connections?

No. Premium includes DVHTV access on up to five linked DVHTV devices. The optional +5 Devices package raises this to ten linked devices. Your media provider sets its own simultaneous-stream rules.

Why can't I find the Guide for some channels?

Guide listings come from your source's program data. Refresh the EPG, check whether your source supplies it, and use Assign EPG on supported channel options if necessary.

Can I pause and rewind every live stream?

No. Stream seekability and available controls depend on the source and app release. A more complete Local Time-Shift implementation is being tested separately from the current public release.

Can I download the Windows version here?

Not yet. The Windows application is in development and is not part of the public Android/Fire TV APK.
